Description

Numéro 9 de la 2e série de cette très importante revue surréaliste. De nombreux textes autographes originaux figurent montés sur onglets en regard des textes imprimés.

As a vehicle for surrealist thought, the journal Littérature published major surrealist texts, such as Les Champs magnétiques (The Magnetic Fields). André Breton retained the title Littérature proposed by Paul Valéry, which should obviously be understood as ironic.

The twenty issues of the journal ran from March 1919 to August 1921. Thirteen of them were bound by Paul Bonet for André Breton. Its spine bears the title in gilt lengthwise, each letter of the title interspersed with a band of Morocco leather of different colours, and the dates of publication. [Atelier André Breton website, 2005]

A complete collection of the second series of this very important surrealist journal.

Numerous original autograph texts are included, mounted on tabs opposite the printed texts.

An exceptional set bound by Paul Bonet for André Breton.

A precious copy belonging to André Breton, with his bookplate designed by Salvador Dali.
