Description
Manuscript by Picabia for the magazine Littérature to accompany the article ‘Vacances d'artistes’ [‘Artists’ Holidays’]. Intended for Littérature, these excerpts from Picabia's letters to André Breton are filed together with the article ‘Vacances d'artistes’ to form a sort of small dossier. Picabia is revealed there as he was in himself, less concerned about belonging or not belonging than with the pleasure and invention that is, to him, at the heart of all true painting. [André Breton Workshop website, 2005] Extracts from unpublished letters to André Breton (1922). Manuscript in black ink, titled by André Breton, who copied two letters addressed to him by Picabia, one from Barcelona, dated 30 April 1922, the other from Le Tremblay-sur-Mauldre, dated 19 October 1922. André Breton marked the copy of these letters "Francis Picabia". [Auction Catalogue, 2003]Bibliography
