Such is the goal of this open website constituted from the collection of André Breton, acquired over his lifetime. The collection, dispersed in 2003, has thus not completely disappeared from view, as you can now discover it in its entirety via the web, a feat quite impossible from the era of the collection's existence in André Breton's Atelier on rue Fontaine.

Administered by the Association Atelier André Breton and presided over by Aube Breton-Elléouët, the daughter of the poet, the site today acts as a database in continual development, thanks to wiki technology that allows everyone to participate in embellishing the site from all over the world. The consultants for the auction of 2003 have for the most part, written the descriptive notices that you see online. Constance Krebs has written the headers, the notices from the auction without descriptions and continually updates the notices from 2003. Christina Rudosky is in the process of translating the notices into English.

It is up to you now to complete or add your own knowledge of Surrealism, Folk Art, Graphic Arts or Ethnographic Arts to the site. If for example you have in your possession letters in response to correspondences that are presented here, you can propose to send us a copy and a commentary through the medium of the wiki. Our board of directors will be immediately able to review your suggestions and it will rapidly be put online and be made accessible to everyone.

You can also share information in your social networks, keeping in mind that the most part of the objects represented on the site depend on the author's rights (copyright law) and are applicable to the artists that have worked in France.
