Cet ouvrage est la deuxième édition en français du livre de Novalis. La toute première traduction de Henri d'Ofterdingen - par Xavier Marmier - a paru en 1832, dans la Nouvelle Revue Germanique (Lettre Novalis, n° 27 : « Les premières traductions de Novalis »).
