A manuscript of one of the poems by Breton dating from November 1922, in six sections.
Unpublished manuscripts by Breton can be found in the collection at rue Fontaine dating from different periods, the oldest written on headed notepaper for Littérature, then for La Révolution surréaliste, and for Médium... Some are mere outlines, others magnificent love poems, in verse or in prose, kept hidden by the poet as though to avoid divulging the secret impetus animating them. Surveying these verse and prose works that are among the loveliest items in Breton’s archives, one has the impression of breaking and entering into someone else’s home. ‘All aboard but for less than the islands
The prairies destroyed by two warring fish
Forever it’s the lightest one that succumbs
You’ll see it’s my birthday
The bars of the cages are white and cold paradise awaits us.’
