Description
Letter (or manuscript) by André Breton dated 24 May 1951.
After several years of isolation, in May 1951 Breton marked his “young friends” having taken up the baton by issuing the tract Haute fréquence. Seven young writers (including Jean-Pierre Duprey, Jean-Louis Bédouin, Gérard Legrand and Jean Schuster) had just sent him an open letter in which they identified with his thought and action. After the turbulence of the ‘Pastoureau affair’, which saw violent dissensions threaten the cohesion of the group, a regeneration appeared to be taking shape. [Atelier André Breton website, 2005]
