La Femme Bleue
Huile sur toile peinte au verso datée de 1946.
Une image, une notice descriptive, une exposition.
In 1935, Dominguez was feeling isolated and had written to Breton,
asking him if he could attend the meetings of the Surrealist group.
These took place at the café on the Place Blanche, where we got
together with Breton, Dali, Tanguy, Ernst... Dominguez quickly got in the habit of joining us.
Dominguez opened new windows to Surrealism, windows on a world where one day each individual would find his own elementary well-being and the right to see all. Lofty painting, boiling with metamorphoses. Painting where everyday objects ooze colours like mirages, and where gigantic figures - their anatomies only slightly formalized - are liberated, eternalised in a space which is nonetheless limited.
