‘There once was a bird with wings whose characteristic was to split the air. The black air ahead of it was impregnated with the smell of iris, while the light-coloured air behind it resembled the song of milkmen when they push open massive doors with golden handles before vanishing on the blood-red floors of waiting-rooms that were still fresh and siphoned off by night.’
