Folder with handwritten annotation ‘Surrealist Texts, Notebooks’ under which ‘Surrealist’ is again written, undated.

Stamped with the word ‘surrealist’ and with the exact title La Révolution surréaliste. Bureau des recherches surréalistes, this folder collects the group's archives at the time of the launch of the new magazine, associated with the Bureau on the cover of the first issue... It includes drafts and texts that were published around 1924 and 1925 in La Révolution surréaliste. [Atelier André Breton website, 2005]

The name of this folder, ‘Surrealist Texts, Notebooks’, with ‘Surrealist’ again underneath, clearly indicates that it contained the ten surrealist notebooks from the spring of 1924. We know that some of these texts were reproduced in La Révolution surréaliste, which explains the stamp La Révolution surréaliste. Bureau des recherches surréalistes. As of 2021, we are still looking for other texts that might have been in this folder. It is not certain that the inscription ‘DOGEQNE’ will be of much help.

This note makes no mention of the 2003 auction. However, a clue (the reference number) suggests that it was part of lot 2067. [Atelier André Breton website, 2021]
