Description

Peinture à l'huile de Georges Braque réalisée en 1911.

Homme à la guitare représente le cubisme analytique, un courant qui est celui de la première période du cubisme.

Braque associe un rendu réaliste de la guitare au rendu presque indéchiffrable d’une figure humaine jouant de la guitare.

La collaboration de Braque et de Picasso était si étroite quand ils ont développé le cubisme analytique que Braque les a comparés plus tard à deux alpinistes liés l'un à l'autre.

Afin de dissocier la mystique du créateur de leurs peintures, ils ont tous deux habituellement signé le verso de leurs œuvres au lieu du recto. [MoMA et site André Breton 2019]
