Description

Interview with André Parinaud, Pierre Reverdy, and Francis Ponge, broadcast on the radio on 19 October 1952 and then published in the journal Arts on 24 October.

Autograph manuscript, undated [1952].
- 1 page 1/2 in-4° handwritten in ink by Breton concerning Pierre Reverdy:

"I can't see that poetry is held in much in regard today, and I know Pierre Reverdy well enough not to think that he is speaking euphemistically and that he is laughing inside – out of pity... There is still no way, nor can there be, that poetry can be included among the various modes of literary activity. It is of a fundamentally different essence: “Alchemy of the Word” seems to me that the best way of expressing it. And it is completely abusive that some people have attributed a specific social agenda to Rimbaud in poems such as ‘Paris se repeuple’ (Paris is repopulated).” [Sale Catalogue, 2003]
