Description
In his autobiographical work, Autoportrait, Man Ray gives a description of this work:
"My latest painting, done with a paint gun, shows the toothed wheels which the gyrations of a Spanish dancer whom I saw in a musical revue inspired in me. The title is part of the composition. You can read it either DANCER or DANGER (as in English there is only one letter which changes between"dancer" and "danger"". Man Ray (Autoportrait, Paris, Robert Laffont, 1964, p. 93).
