Description

Breton's handwritten notes brought together on 13 January 1953 concerning the circumstances of J. Heisler's death.

In January 1953; these notes thrown confusedly on the paper constitute a frenzied record, in which the attentive reader will note traces of a rather violent atmosphere surrounding the names of Hantai, Heisler, and Toyen, with some inexplicable behaviour and chairs being thrown.
The alternation of inks suggests a ‘text’ taken up and resumed, with more clearly written calmer areas, and more difficult to understand shorthand passages. [Atelier André Breton website, 2005]
