Preface to an exhibition of the two Italian sculptor-designers at the Pogliani Gallery in Rome.
Towards a "philosophy of furniture"? It is not to Satie and his ‘furniture music’, nor to the decorative arts, but to Charles Cros and his poem ‘Le meuble’ [‘The Piece of Furniture’] to which Breton refers in discussing the work of two Italian artists discovered during their recent visit to Paris. Impressed by their work, he agreed to write a preface for the exhibition of Fabio de Sanctis and Ugo Sterpini at the Pogliani Gallery in Rome.
