    Description

In 1938, André Breton left for Mexico -"the only country which attracts me"- accompanied by his wife, Jacqueline Lamba, and on an official mission to give four talks on French literature and art.
"On May 13th, he gave the first of the four "Modern Transformations in Art and in Surrealism" lectures, and on the 17th, sponsored the first projection of Un chien andalou , by Luis Bunuel, at the Palacio de Bellas Artes. The other talks were cancelled because of the politically agitated climate which reigned in the country." (Strasbourg, Musée d'art moderne et contemporain, Les surréalistes en exil, 2000, p. 190).
