Manuscript by André Breton about a project for a collection planned for Gallimard in 1950 and entitled ‘Révélation’.

‘Révélation’ was a collection created by Breton in the summer of 1949 for the publishers Gallimard, but that would in the end only contain one title, La Nuit du Rose-Hôtel by Maurice Fourré. However, this programme shows the editor’s ambitions. Alongside talented newcomers like Gaston Puel he considered reissuing such ‘classics of modernity’ as Arthur Cravan or Raymond Roussel, or authors from the esoteric tradition like Fulcanelli, the author of Demeures philosophales which the poet had read the year before. It is the list of works Breton wanted to publish in the ‘Révélation’ collection at Gallimard; only Maurice Fourré's work, La Nuit du Rose-Hôtel, was actually published. [sale catalogue, 2003]
