Description

Handwritten leaflet by André Breton classifying the most essential ideas from 1942 to 1961. In the end, Breton wrote down only a few titles on this "chart of ideas informing writings of over fifty years in total". The project did not come to fruition, which is obviously a pity; but it can be observed that the various interviews conducted after the war provide the framework, leaving it to researchers to reconstitute the whole. It should also be noted that this vocation to gather together, to take stock, which was characteristic of the 1950s and 1960s, coexists with Breton's constantly fervent appetite for the new. [Atelier André Breton website, 2005] Autograph manuscript, 1961. 1 large in-4° page handwritten in black pencil and signed in red ink by André Breton, of a table summarising his main writings and interviews between the years 1942 and 1961.
